February 25, 2022

The SYNOD of All Nations Evangelism Ministries, during the ICWM Worship Conference which was held from Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th April 2021, passed the following resolutions:

1. Synod hereby encourages believers to sustain prayers for the restoration of peace and stability to Sankera area and dialogue with parties involved with the hope that lawlessness and violence will soon be a thing of the past because God is sitted on the throne.

2. Synod regrets the unfortunate incident in Konshisha Local Government and appeals to Nigerian Army to exercise restraint in the handling of the issue and calls on our youths to be civil and law-abiding.

3. Synod views with concern the rising cases of insecurity in the southeast and southwest of Nigeria and appeals to the Federal Government to give support to regional security outfits whose existence will complement the efforts of the police and other security agencies.

4. Synod encourages Government to heed calls for restructuring and address the issue immediately as failure to do so may spell doom for the Nation in view of the present agitation for self determination by different nationalities across the country.

5. Synod observes that recent appointments made by the Federal Government into various Federal agencies,, parastatals, boards and ministries have disclosed the lopsided nature of the appointments which seem to favor a particular section of the country in total disregard to the Federal Character Principle, it is not a healthy development for a nation like Nigeria and Government should check the trend and correct the imbalance.

6. Synod observes Government efforts at distributing Covid-19 vaccines across the country and appeals that the administration of the vaccine to Nigerians should not be by compulsion but those who desire to take the vaccine should be vaccinated while the rights of those who have good reasons while they would not take the vaccine should also be respected.

7. Synod considers the proposal to introduce wearing of Hijab as part of the Military gear of armed forces and other public institutions as the introduction of an unnecessary dichotomy or distinction in the uniforms of armed forces along religious lines and a threat to national unity and cohesion.

8. Synod is of the view that the Nation’s constitution should address issues of introduction of provisions that give religious coloration to the Constitution and expunge such provisions which are likely to promote disunity and division. The National Assembly should also look into agitation from different quarters on Constitutional issues particularly the status of the Constitution.

9. Synod condemns in totality the attacks and threats on the life of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and calls on the Federal Government to rise and investigate the threat against the Governor’s life and bring those behind it to justice in the interest of national unity and peace.
